Introduction

Hi, and welcome to another episode of The Perfectionism Project, a podcast full of perfectionism advice for entrepreneurs. My name is Sam Laura Brown. I help entrepreneurs release their perfectionism handbrake so they can get out of their own way and build a fulfilling and profitable business. I’m the founder of the Perfectionists Getting Shit Done group coaching program, which is otherwise known as PGSD. And for even more perfectionism advice to help you with your business, you can follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject.

Sam Laura Brown – (The Getting Shit Done Series)

[00:00:29] Okay. So this is part five of my five part getting shit done series here on the podcast. And today I am so excited to be sharing with you more about my program, Perfectionists Getting Shit Done and how that will help you get shit done in your business without burning out. We are talking about. going from being an overthinking procrastinator who is so smart, you did well in school, you’re doing well in your job, and in any other situation that you’re in, but when it comes to business, it’s not translating, the intelligence isn’t translating across, you aren’t, you’re not getting the results that you know you could be.

[00:01:07] And that’s because of perfectionism and more specifically simply just because you aren’t using productivity tools that work for your perfectionist brain and therefore make it easy to show up, to put yourself out there, to take consistent action, to make decisions, to get shit done and to do that without burning out.

[00:01:25] So PGSD I created five years ago now. This is a longstanding program. I created this program because this was my struggle. The taking action piece. This was my struggle in business. And once I solved it, I had to help other people. I had to share what I had learned because I had to piece it together myself.

[00:01:47] And I don’t want you to have to do the same. So I really want to invite you. To listen to this episode, to find out more about the program, you can go to samlaurabrown.com/PGSD to sign up because at the time this episode is released, we will have officially opened the doors to the program and they are open for one week only from now until the 7th of February.

[00:02:11] That’s a Friday at 11:59pm Eastern time. So you have time to think about it, but I highly recommend listening to this, getting yourself inside, even if it takes a bit of a leap of faith, as it often does for perfectionists who have had a history of not following through with plans, having great intentions and having them fizzle out.

[00:02:33] That’s just again, simply because you haven’t had the right productivity tools for your perfectionist brain. You haven’t been taught how to be productive as a perfectionist. So get yourself inside the program you want to be inside. You want to have this support, the accountability, the process. It’s going to make such, such, such, such, such a difference.

[00:02:54] In your business. And so I really want to invite you in so that you can get the same kind of results that our clients have. You can read more about them as well on the page at samlaurabrown.com/PGSD. You can see videos from PGSDers as well, sharing about their experiences, all different kinds of industries that we have PGSDers from in terms of what kind of business they have.

[00:03:18] We help PGSDers who have a busy full time job, a health condition, who have ADHD, who are a parent to little ones like I am, like any situation, we help you to be productive in that situation without having to be more motivated, without having to be more disciplined. It’s really about being able to work with your perfectionist brain instead of against it.

[00:03:43] So you can actually be reaching the potential. that you know you have. So with that said, I am going to leave the rest of the part up to my past self who is going to walk you through PGSD, who it’s for, what it is, what you get inside and all of that. I hope to see you inside the program. Any questions, send us a message at support@samlaurabrown.com. Enjoy.

Sam Laura Brown – (Start of the episode)

[00:04:08] So what I’m going to do in this series, in this part, what I’m going to do in this part is tell you about my program. Perfectionists Getting Shit Done.

[00:04:16] What I’m actually going to do is get the website up so I make sure I don’t miss anything. And I’m just going to walk you through. What the program is. I’ve talked a lot about and like who it helps and how it works, all that. I’ve talked in this series, if you’ve missed it, why you need the right tool for your perfectionist brain when it comes to productivity, especially if you’re an entrepreneur, super important.

[00:04:44] Productivity is essential. Like it’s the foundation of entrepreneurship. If you can’t take action, then it doesn’t matter how good your plans are. It doesn’t matter how good your ideas are. Like you have to be able to execute and to do that in a sustainable way without burning out because most good ideas take more than two weeks to implement and to get results with.

[00:05:05] So you’ve got to be able to take action for a much more sustained period of time, even when life is lifing. And you’ve got shit going on. So we also talked about why to do lists are making you unproductive and why flexible planning is what works for perfectionist entrepreneurs and why I developed the power planning method as a flexible planning method.

[00:05:26] We talked about clean rest, getting guilt free brain rest. So you can be productive when you’re working. Having a momentum project, which is a six week project. So you actually know what you’re working towards and you can create momentum in your business. And then I think after that is when I shared a bit about my story, my revelations about perfectionism, my journey with it, why I love it.

[00:05:51] really doing this work on productivity and perfectionism is what has allowed me to have the business that I have today and the freedom that I have today and the satisfaction and fulfillment that I have today as well. So if you want to do this work and get my support, get my team support, be in a supportive community of other perfectionist entrepreneurs who are getting out of their own way, doing the things that they know they need to do.

[00:06:19] instead of procrastinating on them, instead of overthinking. And one of my favorite things about the program that is so essential for perfectionists, because we talked about how perfectionism is a strategy to avoid shame. We never shame you for being unproductive. You should know better. Come back to me when you’ve got it done.

[00:06:39] Like this is a productivity program. This is to help you take action on your marketing tasks, take action on your sales tasks, take action on the key backend tasks that have been, if you’ve got a messy backend or like taxes that haven’t been done or things like that, you need to clean up. We help you to actually do that.

[00:07:03] And to do it in a sustainable, feel good way, to be creating momentum in your business. And it’s not three mantras like, Done is better than perfect. Just write that on a post-it note. Just stop being a perfectionist. Or like we have one little lesson on like, here’s what perfectionism is. This is all geared towards getting yourself the right productivity tools and system for your perfectionist brain.

[00:07:29] As I talked about in part one, it’s really as simple as like, if you want to see and you don’t have 20, 20 vision, you need glasses, then you need the right prescription for your eyes. Otherwise your vision will be blurry. Even if you’re trying to motivate yourself to be better at seeing, if you’re trying to be more disciplined about it, like you actually just, the best way to solve for that, the simplest way to solve for that, Is you just get yourself the right prescription glasses.

[00:07:57] So if you’re using a to do list, if you are time blocking, that isn’t the right prescription for your perfectionist brain. That’s going to trigger your all or nothing mindset. That is going to make you overthink things. It’s going to make you over schedule yourself and exacerbate like the all or nothingness where you’re either, you know, Doing everything and working all the time, or you’re just so sick of being so behind that you’re just like, whatever, fuck it, I don’t care.

[00:08:20] That we want to actually just have you use the tools that work for your perfectionist brain and solve your productivity problems. Your follow through problem is just a planning problem and when you plan properly as a perfectionist, which is simple and easy to learn, when you do that and when you are using flexible planning, you’re using the power planning method to do that, you’re getting your clean rest, you’re using your momentum project.

[00:08:45] You’re able to then actually graduate to the next level of business. You’re then able to make more money, which will naturally happen. Of course, as you start taking action on marketing tasks and sales tasks. that you’ve been putting off or being very inconsistent with. Maybe you have, we help you with decision making in the program.

[00:09:04] So maybe you have a lot of niche drama, for example, you just can’t decide exactly what niche to do or your messaging or certain things like that. Like we help you with that so much at BGSE because decisions is a big part of business and perfectionism and perfectionists tend to struggle with decisions because we’re scared of making the wrong one.

[00:09:22] So we don’t make any decision at all. So, um, And then it gets harder because we put more pressure on ourselves to make the right decision because we’ve been thinking about it for so long. So then we It makes it harder and so and so on it goes. So in Perfectionists Getting Shit Done, we help you, we support you, we make it easy to actually get shit done.

[00:09:43] And I just want to mention, I’m going to go through a bit about the program, like the features of it as well. But with PGSD, because this is something that I get asked about a lot. So I talk about a concept called procrastiner learning, which is when you are learning as a form of procrastination. So very common for perfectionists because we love feeling productive.

[00:10:05] So you might be either constantly taking marketing programs, for example, constantly listening to podcast episodes, reading books. And the key of procrastinate learning, isn’t that you’re spending a lot of time learning. It’s how much are you implementing what you learn? Are you just constantly consuming?

[00:10:23] You’re just one book away from figuring out you’re just one podcast episode away. You’re just one book. More training or module or whatever way. And you’re just in this pattern of just consuming, consuming, consuming, constantly trying to get your ducks in a row or have the perfect idea of like, I’ll know when I see it, like this epiphany is going to come to me and just really like comforting yourself with knowledge, what you need to do as an entrepreneur, if you want to have a business.

[00:10:49] is you need to be taking action. So because we help people in PGSD who have struggled with taking action due to perfectionism and due to procrastinate learning, like they use that as a coping mechanism. that when people are thinking about PGSD, they’re like, but is this just procrastinate learning? And it makes sense to be asking that, right?

[00:11:09] Like if you have a history of procrastinate learning and you are coming into a program, you might think, is this just me procrastinate learning? I should know better, but PGSD is getting you the right prescription for your eyes. So we just first of all need to remember that, that it’s like, well, should I, should I should just be able to see with these glasses that don’t actually Like match my eyes that doesn’t make sense and that’s why I should just try harder at my to do list or I should just Try harder at time blocking or I should just try harder At my whiteboard system or whatever you’ve been doing or just it’s all in your brain Doesn’t make sense to do it that way, but I get why I get asked that and I get why you might think that.

[00:11:48] And with PGSD, it is the antidote to procrastinate learning. It is the cure because the program is designed specifically, like it’s not just, it supports you with this. It’s like the whole purpose of it is getting you out of procrastinate learning. and into productivity. So everything is designed to be short and concise.

[00:12:11] You can learn on the go, for example, like staying up to date. If you want to with listening to coaching call replays, I’ll talk about them more in a bit why we have them, but it’s so easy to do. We make it that it’s so accessible. You don’t have to log in and sit down at your computer. And that we aren’t like, here’s a million things, spend the next three months learning this and then you can start taking action.

[00:12:33] The program is designed to support you to start taking action and to do that very imminently in a way that feels really safe. It’s not going to freak you out and be like a couple of productive weeks and then you burn out or a couple of productive weeks and you freak out. Because you’re having to put yourself out there so much.

[00:12:52] Like we actually support you to be productive in a sustainable way from when you sign up. And I love that we do that in the program because it’s so needed. I was like, I was the biggest procrastiner learner and that’s why it’s so important to me that PGSD isn’t there as like, here’s another way to procrastinate.

[00:13:12] It is actually going to teach you how to be productive and how to specifically, cause it’s for perfectionist and for productivity. How it’s designed for someone who wants to procrastinate. So we actively consider that in the creation of the program and in the way that we support you as well. So I’m just scrolling down the page.

[00:13:31] I will link up where you can find this page. So when it comes to the program, What will you learn inside? Might be a question you have. So you will learn power planning, the power planning method, how to get guilt free clean rest, how to have a momentum project, what that looks like, how to achieve it. It’s not just learning concepts, like we actually support you.

[00:13:53] It’s a coaching program. We actually support you with using the tool, not just his how to intellectually do it. Like we get it working for you and we’ve helped so many different people, so many different kinds of businesses, different stages, different like situations of like how many distractions they have, what kind of tasks they need to get done.

[00:14:16] So we can, we can get it working for you. And the system itself is designed to take that into account. So those are really the key three things that you’re going to be learning. The simple tools. They’re easy to learn. They’re easy to adopt. They work for your perfectionist brain. And you can go onto this page as well and see the success stories from our PGSDers who came in people like Kristen who came in and had had a business for eight years as a stylist and posting sporadically, but like, not posting consistently, not able to consistently sign clients, like just a lot of consistency issues and a lot of drama from her perfectionism to be able to come in and solve for that.

[00:15:05] Like I’m, I’m obsessed with just seeing our PGSDers’ results and how it can solve years, if not decades of getting in your own way, just by having the tools that work for your perfectionist brain. So you’ll also learn about your self image as a perfectionist entrepreneur and how to actually be a productive person and not just be productive for a little bit, but like how to make it sustainable for you.

[00:15:30] And you can see on that page more about those things. So you’ll learn topics like self image, self trust, self confidence. You will learn how to stop procrastinating, how to stop overthinking, how to stop burning out. Again, if you’re a perfectionist entrepreneur, building a business, we have got you covered.

[00:15:49] So in PGSD, you will have our simple productivity process. So I’ve shared what that is, power planning, clean rest, and your momentum project. So you will have that all laid out, easy to learn, concise to the point, and very easy to apply. So you have that, you have our weekly group coaching calls that you are invited to attend.

[00:16:14] A lot of PGSDers attend them. And many PGSDers don’t, but these coaching calls, they just get all the benefits from listening to the coaching call replays. But these calls are worth the investment alone. So also, so are the tools that we teach, but these calls, we will coach you and you also hear other perfectionist entrepreneurs getting coached on the perfectionism that is coming up as you build your business and the perfectionism that is stopping you from being productive.

[00:16:44] We cover topics like procrastination, overwhelm, burnout, people pleasing, imposter syndrome, fear of failure, how to overcome that. And you have that as a way to get support when you need it. But also when it comes to hearing others getting coached. You will have so many realizations and get so much help that you aren’t even aware of yourself needing.

[00:17:09] You will get that from listening to others getting coached. Everyone in there is a perfectionist entrepreneur who is working on the same things that you’re working on, learning how to plan properly, learning how to rest without guilt, learning how to be productive in their business. To identify what’s most important, to show up, to be consistent.

[00:17:29] Everyone in the program’s working on that. So everything on every call is going to be relevant to you. And the reason that I have PGSD as a program, the way that it is, is when I was one on one coaching, that everyone I was coaching, I was saying the same things over and over again, and they all felt really alone because they didn’t get to hear when I had coached the other person on it.

[00:17:54] They thought they were the only one with the issue, essentially because they couldn’t hear anyone else getting coached. And also, it could only just be so surface level because it was all dependent on one person when it was one-to-one coaching versus in group coaching, because everyone is a perfectionist entrepreneur, that one person will get coached on something and the next person is like, oh, that is actually really relevant to me.

[00:18:16] And then we can dive deeper into it and deeper and deeper. and really covers so much ground in such an incredible way. And it just helps release so much shame that you might have, or you will have if you’re a perfectionist, it’s really a shameful, like we’re trying to avoid shame. So just hearing someone else go through the same struggle you’re going through is such a relief to not be thinking I’m the only one who should know better than to not be productive.

[00:18:46] But here I am not being productive. It’s just such a relief and we have the PGSD private podcast so you can get all the replay recordings when you’re on the go. So when you’re in the car, like, and a lot of PGSDers are like, I just get all the benefits just from listening to everyone else getting coached.

[00:19:04] It’s like, They’re a surrogate for me. Like I don’t even need To get coached myself because everyone else gets the coaching I need For me on my behalf and then I just get to listen and take on the lessons and apply it So we have that and just so you know, most of our PGSDers are in the US we also have PGSDers in the UK Um in europe or in australia like me in different parts of asia we have a lot of PGSDers in all different kinds of time zones. Yeah, we’ve got PGSDers all around the world who are loving the coaching calls and you have a very high chance of getting coached on the calls. And if you aren’t coached, you are going to get what you need anyway, but you do have a very high chance of getting personally coached on those calls.

[00:19:47] You also have three private 12 weeks in the program, you will have the ability to book three 30 minute Private coaching calls with a PGSD coach and having these calls in your back pocket really means that you’re never going to stay stuck. Like if you are wanting as well, like if there’s something like I’m a bit too embarrassed to say this in front of everyone else, or like, I just really want to work on this one on one, you will have three private coaching calls that you can book.

[00:20:14] in your first 12 weeks in the program. We can tell you what your needle movers are, we can tell you how much clean rest we recommend getting, like we can give you all the specifics for you. Accountability, so we provide a lot of accountability to keep you on track, we get very aware when you sign up for the program.

[00:20:31] who you are. We notice if you’ve gone missing, we really support you like a lot of perfectionists. If you have trouble taking action, then having accountability while you’re also learning self accountability is a really powerful thing. So there’s so much accountability built into PGSD.

[00:20:48] And we also have challenges like the 30 day, get out of your own way challenge. That is a much loved challenge inside the program. That’s going to help personal feedback. So you can get a lot of personal feedback, On your business. So it’s not just like come in and figure it all out by yourself. We are really hands on with you Provide so much support so much feedback if you want help with decisions Um, if you want help with figuring out your niche like any of that we support you with that It’s not just that you have to apply it all to yourself Like we give you the personal feedback and we help make sure that you aren’t Wasting time, sending yourself off in the wrong direction.

[00:21:25] We also have in the program, Ask a Coach. So this is where, oh my goodness, pardon me. Ask a Coach is where you can submit any questions that you have and a PGSD coach will answer. You can submit them anonymously if you would like. But this is so you can get any questions answered that you possibly have, and we will support you so that you are able to be getting shit done in your business without burning out.

[00:21:53] You also have a really, really, and I’m so proud of this, it’s probably the thing I’m proudest of with PGSD, You have such a supportive community of perfectionist entrepreneurs who are cheering you on and who will lovingly call you out if it is needed, if they can tell you’re in the space for that as well.

[00:22:15] But you will have the PGSD forum, as well as like the community. If you do come live to the coaching calls and being able to see everyone else’s faces, Um, and talk to them in the chat, but you will actually not feel alone. And this is just, it’s so powerful, especially if you’re in other communities, because a lot of PGS is.

[00:22:35] are in a marketing program, for example, or a sales program, or like some kind of business program. Not all, but a lot are, but in those communities, they aren’t finding the judgment free support that they need, especially when it comes to productivity and being able to get out of their own way and show up.

[00:22:53] They’re surrounded in those programs by a lot of people who are like, if they get told, just show up and post consistently, like, okay, cool, I’ll go do that. That, oh my god, that was not me. I actually like needed a lot of support to figure out how to get myself to be okay with showing up online and posting consistently and doing those things.

[00:23:12] So having that community and also in the PGSD, you have your own persistence log where you can document your own journey and keep track of Everything there, which a lot of our PGSDers do, is optional, but you have such a tool to make like minded friends. We have a lot of PGSDers who’ve organized their own, um, group calls where everyone’s invited to them, but where they get together and get to catch up and do journaling together and different things like that, give each other feedback on things.

[00:23:38] It is just such a warm, supportive place to be. where as a perfectionist you’re already feeling a lot of shame for being behind and that you’re not doing it right and that you should be doing better and you should be knowing better and just in pgsd we do not we do not like keep that going. We really support you to celebrate yourself.

[00:24:04] You have somewhere to share your wins. You might not be able to share your wins with friends and family if they don’t support your business or they don’t understand your business or you start making like having a 10k month and things like that that people are like, okay, now I can’t relate to that, but like, good for you that you can actually have somewhere that helps you normalize your goals, stops you from feeling alone, and also helps you navigate.

[00:24:26] The inevitable, inevitable ups and downs of business when you have highs and lows and everything like that you have somewhere to celebrate and somewhere that you can go To get support when you need it to help pick you back up and keep you going If you just like built up the courage to finally post a youtube video and then you posted it And no one liked it and no one watched it and you just feel so embarrassed or so ashamed or so disappointed Like you actually just have somewhere to turn to get support with that versus just having to carry it on your shoulders alone.

[00:24:57] It’s such a normal experience to have that you will try things and not all of them will work as you imagined or hoped they would, but having somewhere to turn so you don’t go into a shame spiral about it is what makes a difference between you being able to be productive or you having to have two months off or just like completely abandoning.

[00:25:15] what you want to do all together. You will also have lifetime access to the program. So we will help you go from where you are to productive and you will have support for as long as you want to have it from the program. And what we tend to find, because it’s not like lifetime access because you need a lifetime, it’s lifetime access so that there’s no rush.

[00:25:39] We know that when there’s a timeframe, perfectionists can tend to be like, Oh, I have to make the most of it. And I only have this limited amount of time. It is now the perfect time. You just know that as like, the sooner you sign up the better, because you have lifetime access. And then most perfectionists that we work with in the first three months have a significant increase.

[00:25:57] in their productivity. By six to 12 months, they have essentially completely transformed the way that they operate and are able to be productive in a sustainable way without burning out with their business. So they have essentially at that point gotten what they came for. And then after that point, a lot of PGSDers because the community is so supportive, because the coaching calls are so helpful, that they continue to be involved in the program for those reasons.

[00:26:27] But that’s kind of like the time frame that we recommend thinking about is like, Three to six months typically is when you would expect to be really just like, Oh my God, like I am forever changed in the best way. And then if you want to hang around, you are more than welcome to do that. So there’s some other bonuses actually that we have.

[00:26:51] Will I share them? I mentioned about the PGSD private podcast. So you can always listen on the go to the replay recordings, which are many of our PGSDers’ favorite part. Of the program. So valuable. The 30 day get out of your own way challenge to help you pull the trigger on anything. Like a lot of PGSDers use this for if they are just really needing to get some extra motivation for something they’ve been putting off, launching a course, hiring someone, things like that.

[00:27:19] The 12 week power planning challenge to really support you with power planning and making that even easier. If you’d love like working in a challenge format, that’s for you. The aligned marketing workshop. If you are feeling fuzzy about your marketing plan or which platform to go all in on or how often to post That is for you.

[00:27:37] We help you with the perfectionism that comes up around marketing and really having you just create a easy, effective, aligned marketing plan that you can actually, and we’ll actually follow through on. And there’s also the productive morning routine masterclass as well. If you’re wanting to update, upgrade your morning routine, the investment for the program.

[00:27:59] Is one payment of $3,333 USD or 12 monthly payments of $333 USD for lifetime access to the program. So you have the painful option, you have the payment plan option. And as soon as you sign up, you get instant access to everything, including all our past replay recordings. And we can point you like at any point in time, you can just post and say, this is what I’m struggling with.

[00:28:27] Okay. And is there a call to help? And we will point you to the past call replay because for sure at this point of the program, someone has gotten the exact coaching you need. So you don’t have to even wait for a coaching call to hear what you need to hear. And also the way that we label the episodes on the private podcast is that it’s all labeled with titles, like a normal podcast of like how to stop procrastinating, how to overcome imposter syndrome, how to follow through with your plans, like the title.

[00:28:58] Will actually, it’s not just like coaching call from this date. So you’ll be able to scroll through. And if you’re like, Oh my God, right now, I’m just feeling really overwhelmed, or I just like am procrastinating again, and you will be able to go and find a coaching call that speaks to that specific topic.

[00:29:16] And here, not just advice, but here’s someone else who’s in the same mindset and situation, and who is also building a business to hear them getting coached and having. epiphanies and breakthroughs and realizations that allow them to actually be productive, you will be able to hear that on demand.
