PGSD will have you doing the most important tasks for your business, those needle movers in a consistent, sustainable, productive and courageous way, and provides accountability to make that something that you do long time. This isn’t just about having a few good weeks. This is about like if you think about learning to drive, you learn at once, you get the benefits for a lifetime. The same when it comes to planning properly as a perfectionist, which is what will have you getting out of your own way in your business. So, what I want you to do, let’s talk about, you know why…How PGSD has got everything done without burning out.
I want you to think of a time when you were super productive. It felt like you just had so much clarity, you knew what to focus on, everything felt like it was working, you had the motivation to follow through, but then you lost that feeling. And you tried to motivate yourself to get back there. But you just couldn’t. Or maybe, this is very common, especially if you’re working in spurts of motivation, and stops and starts, and you might have two productive weeks and then six weeks of ghosting and you’re kind of always going back and forth between the two that you can get yourself back to being in that super productive time. But it’s not sustainable. And you’re always wondering when you’re going to fall off the wagon again. The reason this is happening is because you don’t have a productivity process that works for perfectionists, you’re not planning properly as a perfectionist, and you don’t have, because of that, you don’t have a process that is repeatable, reliable, that has you focusing only on what actually moves your business forward. And you don’t have a process, a practice, that you can implement when you’re by yourself at home with distractions around you and a busy life going on. So, you need a recipe to follow if you can relate to that. All you need to do is to learn how to plan properly as a perfectionist, and be focusing on the most important things and executing on them in a consistent, sustainable, productive and courageous way. And this is where the PGSD process comes in.
So, there are three steps: plan properly, follow through 80% of the time, rest without guilt and repeat. You are so close to being able to have the business you want. The only reason you don’t, is because you haven’t been taught how to plan properly as a perfectionist to get your perfectionist mindset on your side. Most planning advice doesn’t work for perfectionists, it actually makes us put our perfectionist handbrake on, and has us in the all or nothing mindset; overthinking, feeling overwhelmed, procrastinating. If you have those things going on, it just because you haven’t been planning in a way that works for someone with your mindset, then anyone can learn how to plan properly as a perfectionist, which is so incredible that it’s like there’s nothing wrong with you, there’s nothing to fix. It’s just this one piece that you need of planning properly, that’s going to have you following through and have that be consistent and sustainable. So you’re no longer wondering, when you’re going to fall off the wagon again, or how long this productivity spurt is going to last. It’s going to become normal for you to say what you’re going to do, and then do it, and to say what you’re going to do and do it, and adapt and adjust along the way. But to show up for yourself to be taking your business seriously and to have your business and your revenue actually reflect the amount of time and care that you’re putting into your business. And you need not only the recipe but the accountability to make it something you do long term so you get that inside PGSD.
I want to talk about one of the main reasons our PGSD is “get everything done without burning out” is because they are doing what matters and leaving the rest. And no longer overestimating what they need to do. And underestimating how long everything will take, and you probably know from experience how stressful that is, when you have this laundry list of things, like you’re someone who has so many different ideas for your business, and you’ve learned so much like you’re a Constant Learner, because you have so many ideas that are overflowing, and you have this to do list too match, which is overwhelming, which has you doing things like procrasticleaning because you just don’t know where to start. So like, “I’ll just do something productive. And I’ll just clean my office so that I can concentrate once I get started with working.” But you might be overestimating, I know you’re overestimating…you’re overestimating how much you need to do to get to your goals. And you’re also underestimating because you haven’t learned about yourself and how you work best and how you rest best and everything like that. You’re underestimating how long everything will take, and so you’re setting yourself up, to try and do things that aren’t even humanly possible, and then beating yourself up, because you can’t do what was like not even humanly possible in the first place. And so stressful, and so our PGSD is a reason they’re able to get everything done without burning out, is because they change their definition of everything. And it becomes the needle movers, instead of all of my ideas that I need to do everything like how perfectionist or all mindset, were like, I have all these ideas, and I need to implement them right away. And we’re also dismissing any progress I’m making. And we’re thinking like, “if I don’t go all the way there then we’re not there at all”, and we feel behind and all these different things.
And we perfectionist say we love ticking off a to do list and like that feeling of productivity and satisfaction. But what we actually love is momentum. We love forward progress, and that comes from saying yes to what actually matters, and no to everything else. And to not overestimating how much we need to do, because that’s something like, oh my goodness, here you’ve tried to work from a calendar before, you haven’t been…power planning, you’ve been doing some other kind of like time blocking or something like that. And you had this long to do list and you’re like, alright, I need to get this long to do lists, into my calendar. And you overscheduled yourself, and then you fell behind, and it was just this miserable experience, and as you’re feeling like you’re never gonna get anywhere, that it’s really about focusing on your needle movers which is something that we do within the power planning process, in that first step in our power hour, and we have our growth goal. It’s like the, the destination in the GPS, it tells you if you’re driving in the right direction or not, it’s that North Star that helps you figure out what’s important and what isn’t a lot of times. If you’re struggling to prioritize, it’s because you have too many goals or no goals or your goal is very vague, or you’re not committed to the goal. So, in PGSD part of planning properly is you set your growth goal, and then you have power planning each week. And that, a really big part of that is your needle movers and focusing on them, and instead of trying to do everything I eat, every little idea that you have, and like you have this list that’s full of like big tasks and little tasks and projects that you’ve, you know, you want to implement over the next year, and then things you want to do this week, that you have a process and go through this in your Power Hour, where you are really getting present to what matters, what’s going to move your business forward. And of course, there’s going to be so many different things. There are so many different ways to get to your goal. But you’re going to have the self trust, to decide what you actually want to focus on. And also the self trust to know that you can be productive when the time comes. This is something you’ll develop when you’re inside PGSD. And so, it won’t be an issue if you need to implement something next month, instead of this month. Because you can trust yourself to be productive, when the time comes. You know that you have a system that actually works for a perfectionist. And you know that you are really paying attention to yourself like power planning is such a great way to be more in tune and in alignment with yourself and develop your relationship with yourself. So, you’re really walking alongside yourself and with yourself rather than against yourself.
So, there’s always going to be so many things you want to do and not enough time to do them. But once you get really clear on what your everything is, when you are able to get everything done, and you’re able to do it without burning out. Because not only does it take less time when you’re really just focusing on what matters and leaving the rest. And I’ve quoted this in other episodes I’ve done about PGSD recently, and the one I did on power planning as well about this Abraham Lincoln quote, that is, “If you give me six hours to chop down a tree, I will sharpen my axe for the first four”, that planning matters, that the better you plan, and we’re not doing out planning for four hours in a week, it’s one hour, but taking that time makes execution and implementation, so much more effective. So, not only will you not be burning out because you’re not having to work for so long. What the actual cause of burnout is, it’s emotional mismanagement, like not being able to process our feelings not also working. If like if we’re not working from a place of sufficiency, and adequacy, then we’re going to burn out because working from guilt and stress and pressure and inadequacy, that’s what’s exhausting. And you might know this from experience that you can either work a lot of time and it be so energizing or you can be getting nothing done and feel completely exhausted and burned out. It’s because it’s about our emotions, not about how many hours were working. So, not only a PGSD is generally working less hours than they were before. Like they’re getting more done in less time. And getting more of that clean rest. It’s more about when your power planning and planning properly. Instead of working from inadequacy, shame, guilt, pressure, you’re working from sufficiency, service, gratitude, abundance, like those kinds of feelings, and they are so energizing. So, that’s just a little overview of how our PGSD is get everything done without burning out.
