Welcome to Part 5 of my 5-part Momentum Series. In this series I’m going to teach you how to create momentum in your business in just six weeks without burning out.
Creating sustainable momentum on your own hasn’t worked. Thanks to perfectionism you’ve been getting in your own way, and your business and sanity has been paying the price.
It’s not because you’re not smart enough to have a successful business (you are).
And it’s not because you’re not capable of being a successful entrepreneur (you are).
It’s simply because you’ve been trying to be perfect instead of simply overcoming perfectionism.
I have something to help…
Today I’m sharing how to create sustainable momentum in just six weeks inside Perfectionists Getting Shit Done.
When you have our simple productivity process for early-stage entrepreneurs that is specifically designed to help you overcome perfectionism and get shit done without burning out…
And you have unlimited personal support, a like-minded community and lifetime access to the program so you can do everything at your own pace…
Creating sustainable momentum just happens naturally. Even if you’re someone who has struggled to show up for themselves and their business in the past.

Episode
[00:00:29] Sam Laura Brown: Welcome to part five of our five part momentum series, helping you to create momentum in your business in just six weeks without burning yourself out because having momentum energizes you. It will give you energy. Standing still, And being stuck in avoidance mode because of perfectionism, that’s what’s burning you out.
[00:00:52] That’s what’s draining you. When you have momentum, you will have more energy, not just for your business, but for everything else going on in your life. So today what I want to do is share with you about my program, Perfectionists Getting Shit Done, because inside you are going to be able to implement and get support with everything that I’ve shared.
[00:01:10] It’s broken down into a very simple process for you to follow. Perfectionist and giving you the support and accountability and feedback that you need every step of the way to help you actually get shit done in your business, to help you create momentum in your business in just six weeks without burning yourself out.
[00:01:27] And you’re going to have lifetime access to the program so that we will coach you and support you until you have the momentum that you want. So if you want to be full time in your business one day, or maybe you already work full time hours, but you aren’t yet making a full time income from your business.
[00:01:44] you will be able to get support in PGSD until you have that momentum. But typically it doesn’t take long when you know how to overcome the perfectionism that is stopping you from having momentum. And when you have not just different ways of thinking, but different ways of doing, you have practical tools that support you with overcoming perfectionism and make it easy.
[00:02:10] And the reason that I help entrepreneurs overcome perfectionism. It’s because that was me. I could not build my business because of perfectionism. I was smart. I had learned what to do, but I couldn’t get myself to do it because of perfectionism. It was the only thing stopping me from making the sales that I needed to make to be able to go full time.
[00:02:33] to do the things I needed to do to be able to have a real business. Perfectionism was the thing that was stopping me. I was scared to make the wrong decision. I was scared to show up and put myself out there unless everything felt absolutely perfect. I had to look perfect. I had to sound perfect. I had to have the words perfect.
[00:02:51] I couldn’t get myself to just show up and do it. It felt so painful and I was so, so frustrated with myself. So frustrated by that gap between what I knew was possible and how I was showing up. I was so disappointed in the way that I was showing up for the business because I knew that I could be successful.
[00:03:11] I saw other people. start their business after me and then become more successful because they were able to implement. They were able to take action. They were able to show up and put themselves out there. And I wasn’t able to do that. I wasn’t able to do that. It wasn’t because I was dumb. It wasn’t because I didn’t have the potential to be successful or the capacity or the capability.
[00:03:33] I knew that I could be successful, even though I had the imposter syndrome and the self doubt, I deeply knew that I could be successful, that I could have a full time business that I could do what I wanted to do for my business, that I could have a personal development related business where I got to actually be myself.
[00:03:53] I didn’t have to go into the city and do this accounting job that I didn’t hate, but I did not love. I felt like I had to hide the best parts of me to be able to succeed in that world. I wanted a job where I felt free to be me. And also, of course, freedom over my time, freedom over who I work with, what I work on.
[00:04:11] The freedom to work from home, the freedom to travel and work. I wanted all of that so badly and yet it felt so hard to actually get myself to do the things I needed to do because of perfectionism. Perfectionism was the thing that was stopping me from being able to take the steps needed to build momentum.
[00:04:31] And then once I had that momentum to be able to make the sales I needed show up, do the things I needed to do to go full time in my business. Momentum is the first step. If you don’t have momentum, that’s where you need to focus first, especially if you feel like you’re working so damn hard, but you don’t have the momentum you should have by now.
[00:04:51] Maybe you started your business a few months ago, but maybe you started a few years ago. Like many of our PGSDers have, that you feel like, Oh my God, I should just be so much further along by now. I’m so behind in my business. If that is you, it’s just as simple as overcoming perfectionism. And I’ve never seen anyone else teach it in such a practical way that works.
[00:05:14] I have helped over a thousand perfectionist entrepreneurs get out of their own way. And I was my first client. I was at the thick of it. I was debilitated by my perfectionism. When I started my business, I didn’t tell anyone about it for a full year. I was so embarrassed by myself to even think that I could be successful, to share that side of me that normally I just, I didn’t want to tell anyone I was interested in personal development.
[00:05:41] It was easier to just pretend to be what I thought people expected of me so that I would be liked to people pleasing that way. But it was so displeasing to myself because I felt like I couldn’t just be me and that when I was loved, it wasn’t being loved for being me. It was just this. illusion of me.
[00:06:00] Overcoming perfectionism is what got me out of my own way. It’s what took me from struggling to sell or being too afraid to even sell anything at all. For the first three years, I had nothing for sale. I wanted to be full time in my business. By the time I finished my university degrees on graduation day, I hadn’t made a cent.
[00:06:18] I didn’t have anything for sale. There was literally no way to make money. It took me hours to create a single piece of content. I was constantly overwhelmed by everything there was to do. I just was stuck. I was at a standstill. I was spinning my wheels. I was working so hard, so hard. Every moment I could work on my business, I was doing something for my business.
[00:06:39] And yet I wasn’t getting anywhere because of perfectionism. But once I overcame perfectionism, I was able to stop procrastinating. I was able to confidently put myself out there to start this podcast, to go on stories, to go live, like all the different things, to actually have things to sell, to sell them confidently.
[00:06:59] To sell them consistently. I was able to go from having a hobby business to having a real business And I was able to achieve my biggest dream of going full time in my business without having to worry about needing to go back for working for someone else. I’m the kind of person I was like, I would be happy working for someone else.
[00:07:19] I’m not the entrepreneur who’s like, I could never work for someone else. I was pretty happy working for someone else, but I just wanted to feel the freedom. To be able to be myself in my business or in my professional career to not have to just be pretending all the time, like 40 hours a week spent pretending.
[00:07:37] I wanted to be able to feel like I was actually using my potential. I felt wasted as an accountant. That was not what I was put here to do. And I remember I was listening to so many podcasts, trying to figure out what is this missing link? Like, Why can’t I have a full time business yet? Why don’t I? I listened to so many interviews with people who are full time and be like, okay, what do I need to do?
[00:08:01] Is it the marketing strategy? Do I need to do different branding and different colors or like get the messaging? It was the perfectionism. It was the perfectionism. No one was there to tell me that. I had to figure that out the hard way. That was the unlock. Overcoming perfectionism. Learning how to get shit done.
[00:08:20] How to create momentum. How to then sell. Because perfectionism was what was stopping me from selling. It was stopping me from deciding things. It was stopping me from letting myself speak. It was stopping me from creating a high enough volume of things. Because of the perfectionism, everything had so much pressure on it.
[00:08:39] And so it was so hard to even write my email newsletter because it had to be perfect. And if it wasn’t perfect, I wouldn’t send it. And then I’m sending instead of weekly, I’m sending monthly. And then because I’m sending monthly, it better be good because I’m only sending one a month. And that I wouldn’t do that.
[00:08:54] So it was just the perfectionism was the unlock to the marketing, to the sales, to the branding, to the confidence, to the messaging, to everything I wanted in my business, overcoming perfectionism was the cure, was the solution. And I had to figure that out the hard way, piece things together, develop my own tools, like power planning, like clean rest, like the momentum project we’re going to be doing inside PGSD.
[00:09:23] I had to develop those things just out of sheer necessity. Thankfully, I’m a coach and I’m so interested in this topic that I was able to figure that out. Thank fuck that I was able to do that. And then I had my results. I started sharing it with others. They were like, what are you doing? Friends started asking me.
[00:09:42] My blog readers started asking me. I started sharing more and more and more just from like, here’s what I’m doing. But like, how can I do this too? And so I ended up starting PGSD, Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. I didn’t even know I was a perfectionist when I started my business. The five signs of perfectionism that I talk about, I had to figure those out the hard way.
[00:10:02] I had to piece it together. That it’s overthinking, procrastination, burnout, all or nothing thinking and fear of judgment. Those are the signs of perfectionism. They were my biggest five struggles in business. They were the thing that was stopping me from actually showing up. So at this point, I’ve been full time in my business for five years.
[00:10:20] I’ve made over 2 million in my business and I have three little ones, Lydia, who’s three. My twin sons, Jack and James, who are a year and a half. I work three days a week. Can’t remember the last time I burned out. It was about six years ago now, all because I overcame perfectionism and can confidently get shit done without burning out.
[00:10:41] Also just having this podcast. I know there are so many of you listening who want your own podcast or a creative outlet where you feel like you can actually express yourself, but it’s so scary. To do that, that’s just because of the perfectionism I’m able to have a podcast that has 3 million downloads that has been the driver of my business.
[00:11:00] And I get to just sit in my office and chat about things that I love, share the tools I’ve developed, my client successes. all the different things. It’s actually a dream come true. I’m not saying you need to have a podcast. A lot of my clients don’t have a podcast, have no desire, but I’m able to have a business that I love that plays to my strengths because of overcoming perfectionism, because I’ve done the work that I teach you in PGSD.
[00:11:24] I’ve streamlined it. I’ve simplified it. You have support, judgment free, because where there is perfectionism, there is shame. So a really important piece of PGSD is that it’s a safe place for you to share. To share what’s really going on, what you’re really struggling with. You can get coachy on one of our weekly calls.
[00:11:45] You can watch others getting coached. On exactly what you’re struggling with. This is one of the things that pgs’s tell us all the time that The things others are getting coached on they didn’t have the self awareness to even ask about They didn’t have the courage. They felt too ashamed or too embarrassed Like if they’re having a really hard time in their business showing up Or if they’ve had a dip in their sales or anything like that That they’re too embarrassed to share about it, but someone else got coached and they got the exact coaching they need So you have those also the replays of the project The coaching calls with a private podcast.
[00:12:21] So you’ll be able, if you want help with something. You’ll be able to just say, Hey, I’m really struggling with this. And we’ll say, go and listen to this exact episode. You don’t have to comb your way through. They’re all titled like podcast episodes. So it’s like how to overcome imposter syndrome, how to stop overthinking, how to stop procrastinating.
[00:12:39] It’s all about specific situations and people getting coached on the circumstances on what’s actually going on. It’s not just general advice. You’ll be listening to people getting coaching on, Hey, here’s my problem. What do I do about it? So powerful to listen to people getting coached instead of just listening to advice.
[00:12:56] So you’ll be able to listen to that. Most of our PGSDs, the main thing they tell us is the coaching calls were everything. Yes. The process is amazing. Yes. All the support, but just being able to listen to others like me getting coached removes so much shame. And I really believe that group coaching is even better than one on one coaching.
[00:13:19] This is why I started PGSD and have it be a group coaching format where you can hear others getting coached. Because there is so much shame with perfectionism, and they, it all goes together, that if you think you’re the only one struggling with something, it increases that shame. If you hear someone else, and then someone else, and then someone else, and then someone else, getting coached on exactly the same thing you’re struggling with, you’re like, oh, okay, I don’t need to feel like that anymore.
[00:13:45] This is just me, but we have just added inside PGSD. You will also get three private coaching calls with a PGSD coach. If you do want to have that chance to get private coaching, you will have that as part of the investment, no extra costs, three coaching calls. We have availability for all time zones, three coaching calls with a PGSD coach.
[00:14:07] In your back pocket to use whenever you need them. So I’m so excited that we’ve decided that because that is just going to be the icing on the cake. Also inside PGSD, you are going to be able to get feedback specifically on any of your decisions, your marketing, because it can, it just, if you’re a perfectionist, it sucks to feel like you’re wasting time on the wrong thing and you don’t know where to spend your time and all of that.
[00:14:36] So inside PGSD, you’ll be able to get unlimited personal feedback. on your goals, on your plans, on all those different things, so that you know that you aren’t wasting time on the things that will send you in the wrong direction. We are there as like your guardrails. I want to, I want to give two analogies.
[00:14:54] One is a guardrail when you were driving on the road and a little rail at the side to stop you from going off the road. We are your guardrails. Or you can think of like temp in bowling. And when you’re bowling, you have a little bumper things up so that if you throw the ball in the wrong direction, it just bumps back into the right direction.
[00:15:11] That’s what it’s like inside PGSD. We are your guardrails. We are your bumper bars to keep you on track. We provide so much accountability and we will notice if you don’t log in, we will notice if you go missing and we will reach out to support you. We are there. To get you to momentum to get you to showing up consistently to get you out of your own way.
[00:15:33] And we know That as a perfectious entrepreneur if you are in the early stages of building your business That showing up and taking action is one of your biggest struggles that you might come into the program Having fears of like what if I don’t actually make the most of this? What if I don’t actually show up we have created the program with you in mind Any other program you’re doing?
[00:15:56] You Is geared towards people who don’t have issues with that. They show up, they make an investment, they just follow through with it. PGSD because it is a productivity program for early stage entrepreneurs who need to overcome perfectionism and get out of their own way. We have baked into The way we do everything things to help you Not get stuck in procrastinate learning and procrastinate research and get you feeling safe and comfortable Taking action and showing up and being out of your own way.
[00:16:29] It is literally if you are the person who is scared Of finding yourself in more procrastinate learning pgsd is literally the program for you We help you do we help you do that in a way that feels safe That you’re not having to send your nervous system into shock. We will help you create a plan and follow through with it.
[00:16:48] That is a bit outside of your comfort zone, but not by too much. And that creates momentum in a way that actually supports you. It doesn’t freak out your perfectionist brain and send you into this all or nothing mode of showing up and then ghosting and then showing up and ghosting. We know exactly how to support you so that you can show up consistently as someone who has been struggling with that.
[00:17:11] As someone who has either been. posting and ghosting, jumping from decision to decision, or you show up in your business, but you’re not getting the results you want. Like you’re doing the things, but it’s not adding up and you’re confused about why. We help you actually build momentum rather than just going through the motions or not going through the motions at all.
[00:17:36] We help you build the foundations of a business that can one day support you full time. It’s the most beautiful thing. I wish, I wish I had this program where I was just in the thick of it. I wanted nothing more than momentum. I knew I could have a successful business, but I kept getting in my own way and all the advice, just do it.
[00:17:58] Just remember done is better than perfect. Like, yeah, but what do I actually do? Because that isn’t enough to get me out of my own way. So in PGSD as well, we have just added ask a coach. So inside the program, you’ll be able to submit any questions you have to a PGSD coach. So previously we had, and we still will have, the PGSD forum where you can ask any questions.
[00:18:20] But what I wanted to create is something where you can also ask questions anonymously. So embarrassment never has to stop you from getting the help you need. And with this feature, you can ask as many questions as you want. You have lifetime access. You can ask as many questions as you want and we will answer them.
[00:18:37] You will have an expert answer to your question and you can also read the answer to everyone else’s questions too. So I’m so excited that we have that in PGSD because I know there are a lot of questions that as perfectionists we want to ask but we feel like it’s dumb asking that, I should know that by now, maybe I should watch all these things first before I ask, like no.
[00:18:56] When you have a question, ask the question. We have such a supportive community inside PGSD. This is huge. Like I can’t understate, overstate, I can’t overstate how big and important this is. If you don’t have business friends yet, you will inside PGSD. But if you don’t have business friends yet, you don’t have somewhere to go when you are having a hard time, especially if you have a partner, whether it’s a husband, a wife, someone else in your life, That you have been like, I really want to be successful in this business.
[00:19:32] But your belief has been a little bit shaky, but theirs is shaky too. If that is the case, it’s going to be really hard to go to them, even if they’re the most supportive, loving person. And be like, I’m really having a hard time believing I could be successful. Because it’s so easy for them to be like, well yeah, maybe you should just work a part time job or a full time job.
[00:19:49] Or maybe you shouldn’t be putting all this time and effort. We’ve got a child, or we’ve got other things going on. So you need somewhere safe to go, where you can express that. And we’re not going to be like, Oh my God, you should totally shut it down. Like you’re never going to be successful. And we’re not just going to be like, just this like fake kind of cheerleading.
[00:20:08] You’re like, no, you can do it. But it’s like, Hey, what’s going on? Let’s talk about it. Let’s actually support you with this. Whether it’s changing your mindset about it and the way you’re thinking if there’s typically some kind of perfectionist thought error That’s under the surface. It’s going on that’s creating that we look at your actions and support you with that So many things that we can do.
[00:20:29] It’s not just cheerleading though. There’s plenty of that, but it’s actual Support to help you get to the other side of where you are I just coached someone in PGSD on this the other day. That feeling of like, I don’t know if it’s worth it to continue. And got her to the other side of that. Had the answer to that.
[00:20:50] Helped her actually decide whether it was worth it or not. And created a plan that she could actually follow. That would have her be able to build her business to where she wanted it to be. So you have that. We have so many people in PGSD who’ve made lifelong friends in the community. Because PG& C has been around now for five years.
[00:21:07] There are people who have been inside for that amount of time, who have created lifelong lasting friendships or just friendships for a season. Both are beautiful. And just being around other people who are overcoming perfectionism too, and who actually get it when you’re like, I know what to do and I’m not doing it.
[00:21:25] That aren’t just like, okay, just do it. They will actually get that struggle and be able to actually give you really powerful, supportive, Loving advice. It also helps normalize your goals and stops you from feeling alone in your journey. If you just like, feel like you’re the only one you know with a business, or you know other people with business, but they have a really negative mindset around it, they aren’t the kind of person who’s also into personal development, and all of that, you need a community.
[00:21:53] to really support you with that. So you have that inside PGSD. You have lifetime access to the program. So you’ll have ongoing access to everything, including the weekly coaching calls that we have, the group calls. You’ll have that for the lifetime of the program. We’re here to support you with your perfectionism and your productivity.
[00:22:10] As you build your business, as you navigate different seasons of life, like you will have us there to support you every step of the way, It is the most supportive program. I have not seen any program on overcoming perfectionism for early stage entrepreneurs who are struggling with productivity and showing up and putting themselves out there struggling with imposter syndrome and self doubt but deeply believing that they could be successful.
[00:22:33] I have not seen a program like it and the support that we have, the feedback, the group coaching, the private coaching, it’s world class if I do say so. So. With PGSD, we’re going to be focusing on a few things. I just want to share with you like what will happen when you sign up. So we are opening for enrollment at 6am New York time on the 18th of October, which is now the time of the release of this episode is when the doors are open.
[00:23:02] So we are officially open for enrollment inside Perfectionist Ganesha Dam. So when you sign up, if you sign up in the first 48 hours, you will get a bonus decision call with me. So any decisions that you have been stuck with, niche, pricing, marketing plan, marketing platforms, target market, product, all the things.
[00:23:26] I’m an expert in helping perfectionists make decisions they love. That also makes sense from a business perspective getting you unstuck. So on that call you have it in your back pocket You can use it anytime in the first 12 weeks So as soon as you sign up you can use it Or a few weeks in you can use it when you have a decision to make Maybe you need to do a bit more thinking on things Whenever you’re ready, you can book that call with me and I’ll guide you through a framework that makes it easy to make that decision and have it be one you love that makes sense for your business too and your goals and your personal life and everything.
[00:23:55] It’s all taken into account. If you’re not ready to make those decisions on the call, I will create for you a personalized seven day decision plan. So you know exactly how to get that decision made, what your next steps are, if there’s any research you need to do, conversations you need to have, you’ll know exactly what those is, the exact exercises you need to do.
[00:24:13] And you’ll have follow up support inside PGSD because you have lifetime access, you’ll have follow up support from me and my team to help you get that decision made. Because if there is a decision that is stopping you from creating momentum, because you don’t want to create momentum until you have a bit more clarity.
[00:24:28] That call is just going to make it so much easier. So if you sign up in the first 48 hours, you’re going to get an email with the details about how to book that call with me. There’s availability for all time zones. I’m in Australia. Most of our PGSDers are either in the United States and Canada, or the UK and Europe.
[00:24:45] Some are in Australia like me. We have some in different parts of Asia. All time zones we have availability for that call for me, with me. So inside pgsd what we’re going to be doing so as soon as you sign up you get instant access to everything But what we’re going to be focusing on as a community Is creating your momentum project and having that complete by the end of the year.
[00:25:11] So it’s a six week project that you will be able to achieve that will build momentum in your business. It’ll be either financial or non financial. I’ll guide you through exactly how to set it, exactly how to make it something you can actually achieve. Even if you’ve got a lot going on, especially with the end of the year, if you’ve got holiday parties or you’re going on vacation, if you have little ones, maybe they get sick, all the different things, full time job, you’re tired, it’s the end of the year.
[00:25:37] you will still be able to create momentum no matter what’s going on. Six weeks, four hours of work on your business per week. That’s all that’s needed to create momentum in your business. So as a community, I’m going to be teaching some classes live to support you with this. You also have the live coaching, everything.
[00:25:54] I will be teaching you how to create a momentum project so you know exactly what to do with your business time and you can create momentum without burning yourself out. Without having to be worried about creating momentum in the wrong direction. We’ll clean up any decisions you need to make and have you confidently make them.
[00:26:15] There’s a really big decision. You could have your whole momentum project be about making that decision. We’re going to have you with that momentum project, be able to show up fully, get shit done. You’re going to create the identity that you need to the self image. You need to, to feel like a real business owner, instead of a hobby business owner, to feel like everyone else.
[00:26:34] you’re an expert or at least expert enough in what you do, whether you’re an artist, whether you are a coach like me, whether you have an e com store, no matter what kind of business you have, whether it’s more creative, you will have a momentum project that will help you do that self image work that will help you create momentum and get you done.
[00:26:57] And especially if there’s something you have been procrastinating on overthinking, If you have been stuck with a project that’s going to be perfect for this, I’ll teach you exactly how to set it up so you can actually get it done without having to put a lot of pressure on yourself without it taking much time.
[00:27:14] I cannot wait to teach this. I’ve never taught the momentum project before in a formal way inside PGSD. I have been doing momentum projects myself for many years and I’m just so excited to be teaching it and having you have a project and a way to think about what you’re doing that works for your perfectionist brain instead of against it.
[00:27:31] Inside you’re also going to learn power planning and how to plan properly as a perfectionist so you can get shit done. To do list, time blocking, paper planners don’t actually work for perfectionists. You need to learn how to plan in a way that gets your perfectionist mindset on your side. It’s going to naturally reduce overthinking, procrastination, burnout, and it’s really easy.
[00:27:54] Anyone can learn how to do it. So you’ll learn that inside PGSD. You’ll learn how to get guilt free clean rest so you can mentally switch off when you’re not working. You can enjoy your personal life, you can enjoy the holidays. Life changing. Clean rest is something a lot of perfectionists really need a lot of support around, so we help you with that too.
[00:28:15] You’ll develop a productive entrepreneur identity. Instead of feeling like you have this hobby business, you will feel like you have a real business. You’re being productive, you’re showing up the way you want, you feel really proud of how you’re showing up for your business, you feel decisive, It doesn’t mean you can’t think about things, but you’re decisive.
[00:28:33] You move yourself forward. You have a level of confidence you haven’t had before. And also another thing you’ll be working on inside PGSD is your entrepreneur money mindset. So thanks to the all or nothing mindset we have as perfectionists, we tend to really when it comes to money mindset and especially if you’re having a hard time selling and putting yourself out there, you’re scared of being salesy.
[00:28:56] What happens is that we typically take an employee approach to money mindset. This makes it so hard to sell with confidence. There’s a fear of judgment that goes into perfectionism. So as a perfectionist, you need to take a different approach to money mindset than everyone else. And so inside PGSD, you will learn how to think about money so that you do feel comfortable having a financial goal.
[00:29:20] And so that you do feel comfortable selling and showing up and actually making money from your business. So that’s a huge thing. And I love, love teaching that because as a perfectionist entrepreneur, you do have to be able to do that. To make money and the fear of judgment and all or nothing thinking can really stop that from happening.
[00:29:40] Even if you’re smart, you have potential, you’re going to help a lot of people. It’s that perfectionist thinking combined with the thoughts that a lot of us have about money being bad and all these things. You need to learn how to clean that up. I’ll teach you that inside PGSD.
